Advocates for Victims of Assault, Inc. was founded in 1979, out of a need for support for victims of domestic violence. As our community has grown we have expanded our services to include victims of sexual assault, accidents, death and other trauma. We continue to be used as a resource for local law enforcement and other emergency first responders. In 1996, we opened our first safe house, which has consistently been occupied by women and children seeking refuge from battering and abuse. We also provide safe housing to men in local hotels.
